alright, just wanna let my readers know that i have gotten the key to the bangsar shop/house. so from now on i will be only dealing IN BANGSAR.

right now still waiting for them to finish the floors, then i can officially have people coming over and see the place.

there is still no shelves and stuff, it is still in the process of making everything easier, and more beautiful.

i swear to you its worth the wait!! and i am sorry to those i have offended due to my HECTIC busy schedule!! it almost seems like im working in slow-motion sometimes, arghhh! so frustrating!! i have to run around to get the house stufff ready and buy this and that, choose this and that, wait here and wait there.... and i have to still work!!

9800 HOUSING CHANGE EXPERIMENTAL!!

WELL HELLO THEREEE!! first of all, i just wanna say im DAMNNN HAPPPY about the result of this. u'll see why.

anyways, people have been asking me why i havent changed the front part of the housing yet. well thats cuz im missing a screw driver that is FUCKING HARD TO FIND!! T1, its so small that most of the shops/stores dont carry them. but whatever, i make do what i have, for now.

below is a walk thru of what i JUST did tonite! i obviously have a thing for white housings, AND red housing. but since the first change was already red, i decided to just splash on a little white on it. another reason is due to the matte housing color didnt seem to last for me. =( sigh, so hope this pearl white metallic color will last longer.

i was also very curious as to HOW to change the keypad, and key frame, and whether or not it can do RAINBOW on this blackberry..... because the initial assessment of it when i first opened it was pretty daunting.... but anyways, enough talking!! SCROLL DOWWNNNN =D

the keypad itself is the thinnest i've ever seen it on a blackberry. at first, i thought, hey is this safe/sturdy? but actually, this design eliminates the keys from falling off like all the previous keypads. as well as being so thin, u can actually feel the press of the dome a lot better. its like wearing a thin condom vs thick condom -.-

from the very beginning, they've always used this kind of technology for keypad input. the dome (that silver circle thing on the white sticker) actually has 3 small dots on it for some reason i dont know yet. and as u can see, i accidently ripped the white sticker =( good thing it wasnt connected to a wire or something... phew =\

well how i put this on there and the back light, that is TOP SECRET!!

u cant see how i did that. hahaha and no, i am not teaching anyone.

from this photo, u can actually see the minor gaps from the keyframe and bezel on both side. unfortunately, nothing i can do about this. but my guess is that this is coming from the bezel.

BUT NONETHELESS, THIS IS A WORK OF ART!!! I LOVEEE MY BLACKBERRY. HAHAHA

i guess this post just to showcase what i can do. after all, you would want someone who's done it before to work on ur phone. oh and let me tell you, this is HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED to do it on ur own if u are not experienced with blackberries tear down.

annndddddd, final question. HOW MUCH?! hahaha well, i have yet to figure out how to charge this, but a replica of my housing would be around RM300 range or a little less.

BBH IS EXPANDING!!!

well thanks to you guys, BlackBerryHousing is finally expanding!! i have to really thank each and everyone of you. i have been working this full time since April 2010. it is now November 2010. thats 8 months!! and it has been really, REALLY busy. but i cant complain!! what turned out to be just a hobby is now turning into a full blown business. =D

its been really good to me, although i work the moment i wake up, to going out to see clients here and there, til when i sleep in the early AM's (u guys would know if u realize the timestamp on my replies of ur emails -.-)

i now get average of 30-40 emails per day, and i talk to 40-50 people on bbm daily. that is A LOT of typing on my little blackberry!! i now have over 1400 BBM contacts and growing. so please bare with me if i reply slower than usual =( i now only have my blackberry permanently on vibrate mode. haha

BUT FRET NO MORE!! i have saved up enough, and no more investors, doing it solo! i have

finally secure a location that is PRETTY FUCKING AWESOME!! i cant wait to start working from there!! move in date is in the middle of December! comin right up!! so, where is it?!

yup, right there! how fucking awesome is that?! im soooo stoked to MOVE IN!! oh, yes. it is a house. im gonna be living upstairs, and you guys are welcome to my home while you witness your baby going thru the plastic surgery. *insert silicone valley jokes*

the location is right across from the pet shop/DHL/Post office. just across from the shop lot itself, IM SURE YOU WONT MISS IT!! lol

there will be car parks available at the house, so u dont need to look for parking!! well, please dont bring a gang of 10 people with 5 cars, cuz most likely i can have bout 2-3 car slot available at all time for you to visit.

please dont park ur car there if u are not coming inside, because i will egg the cars parked there that i dont recognize, or let out all the air in the tires, maybe even perhaps draw happy faces on the hood with my keys.

i will cease to go around town anymore and meet you guys, unfortunately. now you guys will have to come to me! i have picked a very very nice location for everybody around KL to travel to. i am considering to still make house/office calls for extra charges though. *considering*

BBH will only be open on appointment bases. no fixed operating hours as of yet. so to see me, u still need to call me and let me know, best to make appointments. call at least 30mins before you come, just so i know =D and why? because its safer for me that way, as it is my home after all. also you will get more attention from me to work on your phone, because you want me to concentrate on your phone, right?! ;)

MY BLACKBERRY TORCH REVIEW!!!

i have never ever reviewed a phone before. but i have noticed that a lot of people are skeptical on the switch over and are always asking me, "eh, how is the torch ah??" like wtf, lol i have to explain it over and over again. might as well do a review. this one is pretty thorough!! hope u dont mind the reading!!

THE REVIEW!

I bought this torch for RM1900 via mudah.my on Nov 3rd. it doesnt have warranty... and I actually don’t care if its AP or water set or original, doesn’t matter to me. cuz I bought this strictly just to test the housings to see if it fits and all. So the warranty will be void anyways. But regardless, the condition was quite good. The person who sold it to me was also using a torch, perhaps a newer one….. rich people these days…..

Anyways, the package didn’t come with much. No mandatory pouch that comes with it. So Im gonna have to source some that fits well and not bad of a quality.

Okay back to the phone. Well, when u hold a torch, u cant deny the fact that this piece of technology is the best blackberry there is. But it is biggest and heaviest out of any of the blackberry I’ve held.

But from what I’ve experienced for the past week, I actually love this phone, in many ways. Which I’ll get into details in a bit. But ya, when I got the phone, the transition to the new pin took like a good few hours to figure out, due to lack of experience lol. But I did manage to move all my 1200+ contacts on bbm, and phonebook contacts and everything else too after a little of fiddling around.

After that, it took a good day or 2 of using it to get used to the OS 6 and its platform. I downloaded all the 3^rd party apps again, and more. The phone actually lagged for the most of the day of transition. Im guessing its due to the fact that it had to retrieve 1200+ bbm profile pics and updates, installing new apps and all. But now the phone is running smoothly. It does have its lag though from time to time. (This is the part where the comparision of iphone would come in, iphone just does it better due to faster processor. )

I thought that having a touch screen, keypad, AND a trackpad was a bit of a over kill. But after a week of usage, I’ve come to realize that I will only maximize the usage of the torch is by using all 3.

The screen is so big now, that I really really love it. just to clarify, the touch screen is like the iphone one, IT DOES NOT HAVE THE "SUREPRESS" technology like the Storms. It is so much easier to interact with my phone now on demand/command so quickly, its amazing. It even has a built in youtube app u can just stream. And for browsing and surfing, it can now replicate the iphone’s input style, click, touch, pinch, slide etc etc. but here is the kicker! When u wanna type something on an iphone, or a storm, it has a touchscreen keypad, and actually minimize the view area of the screen. This actually sucks, cuz I cant type on touchscreen, and I hate to have what im viewing be blocked. With the Torch, you can just slide out the keypad, and BAM! You can type as though u are using a 9700, how fucking awesome is that?! It makes bbm-ing so much more fun and easier, cuz u can see more than just 3-4 lines, (same with twitter) u can touch the person’s pic! Haha no more menu, view contact profile, scroll up, click on pic. Like wtf. Aannnd, going online with the torch is so much better (this is coming from a previous owner of 9700), I no longer dread to wait for load time, and using the stupid trackpad to surf. Sigh. +1 point!!

But one minor adjustment I have to deal with is that with the keypad slide out, typing it on bbm over a time, u can actually feel that it is heavier on the top side due to the screen being there. As well as typing upside down when ur lying on ur bed. Not to say its bad thing, but just a slight adjustment, depending on how u hold the phone when you type. And also, the keypad somewhat is obstructed by the top slider, and the bottom bezel as well, this is different from all the other blackberry, where as the keypad is part of the body line and doesn’t have a feeling like u need to dig ur thumb in a hole to type. (maybe a bit of an exaggeration….)

So, the trackpad, often times, I actually don’t, and wont use the trackpad on the torch. But I would use it if I don’t want to Enter the app, I just want to select. Another thing that comes useful is that im so used to copy and pasting, that the touchscreen alone to do this job is really pissing me off. So I opt to use the same way as the 9700, trackpad. It can precisely select each alphabet as fast or as slow as you wish. The touch screen is supposed to be a step up for input selection, but when push comes to shove, u can always have a fall back of what ur used to, in my case, the 9700 trackpad. (I also think this is why theyre putting trackpad on the storm 3) +1 point!! =D

Another small thing is that it doesn’t have a convenient button on the left side of the phone. I have accustomed to having my memopad there for quick copy&paste msgs. But now have to move to the camera button, and the camera have to be manually searched in the menu.

WIFI – the wifi on the torch is the BEST to date. It connects just as fast as an iphone. And not like before, where u ALWAYS have trouble connecting to some wifi sources. So this is +1 point!! (but please turn it off when not using, to conserve battery)

A big change that im definitely going to use, is the Calendar. As some of you already know, I have a lot of appointments a day, and I need to really keep it organize, that’s why I carry around a physical notepad and actually write it down with a pen. That way, I can see it, I can touch it, and I can cross it out, write something in it, blah blah blah. With a 9700, you cant do it, cuz you know why? U got a trackpad, and a keypad. You don’t get to touch. This is why I love the torch as well, the appoinments I can actually touch on the time slot, slide it, scroll it, and change view. Soo much easier and organized. (although, a hot female personal assistant would be a good alternative, but its probably gonna cost me more than this torch =P) I think this calendar is one of the selling point for me! I love it!!! +1 point!! =D

UP NEXT IS THE CAMERA!!

This one has a 5.0mp!! sooo , SOOO much better. See, im a person that loves to take pics out of random things, and to tweet up about the phone I just did for someone. So this is definitely another huge selling point for me. I love the auto-focus it has though, even for macro. And its not that bad for a camera phone. (although, it is still not as good as iphone, but it is a huge step up for blackberry!) the video camera is also a lot better, not as choppy/laggy as the last one. It has geo taggin!! (whatever that is, I don’t use it…) but it now has 10 “Scene Modes” you can choose from to assist you to take the pics! Pretty sweet stuff =D

The downside of the camera? I did find one. Is that it lags when you take a pic, and u wanna view it right away, even though the icon is there, but it just lags to open up the folder and get to the pic. But its no big deal… just a 5-7 secs wait… -.-

BATTERY LIFE!!!

Now whoever told you the batt life on torch is really good is probably bullshitting, or theyre not using the phone at all (I know this is subjective to how u use ur phone…). I cant really tell you how good or whatever it is, b/c I don’t really time myself on 9700, and on this. And I always have a charger with/near me due to my work. So its good. But I can tell you it is almost as good as the bold 9000 on the battery life. Which is, not that good. Im guessing a huge part of it is due to the screen size.

And just the other day, I was at zouk. Before entering, my torch has 65%+ on the battery bar. I was like, cheh, no problem!! 9700 would last me til I get home with 20% left! FOR TORCH?! It was dying before I step out of the club. Arghh! Maybe I shouldn’t use my phone so much inside -.-

Conclusion? batt life is a downer for torch =( so, you should off the 3G, dim the back light, set the auto screen off to 10secs, and carry around another battery or charger of some sort if ur a heavy user. Hahaha =P

ON TO THE OS UPDATE!

Okay let me tell you, the OS that came with the phone, I forgot what version, 6.0.0.124 or something. That one really REALLY suckssss!!! I almost threw my phone like a few times due to laggggggg. But a few days ago, I updated to 6.0.0.246 and it is SOOO MUCH BETTER. Please update ur phone if u have a torch. Plug it into ur newest desktop manager, and it will auto detect!!

Oh, and here is a trivial thing, START UP TIME!! The first time I booted the phone, when it is brand new, it took ALL OF, OHHHH 1 MINUTE FLAT!! (red led light, to after security test 100%)

But after all the contacts restored, and 3^rd apps installed, now the boot up time is still kicking ass!! 3 min and 20 secs. (red led light, to after security test 100%) But I did notice that after you boot up, it takes bout 5 mins til it iron itself out and the lag goes away.

lastly, mine was an AT&T set, so it has a stupid logo at the bottom. i thought i had to change the bezel, but turns out, a metal ruler works just as good. haha i just scraped off the logo, its not etched in, or engraved. just printed on onlyyyy! thank godd!!

CONCLUSION?

for me, i think the amount of people i BBM per day probably exceeds the total BBM contacts for most of you out there -.- so the stress really comes down when we're talking bout usability. the 9700 is really an awesome platform and its very stable. the 9800 torch right now with its first update, its already looking great! its handling my usage really well, just as well as the 9700. and im a HEAVY user i would say. the only down side i find is the battery life =( i really have to resort to carrying around an extra battery just to be safe. and originally i thought the size would play a big part, but you get used to it, much like how i got used to the 9000, and learned to love it. as for the weight, yes it is heavier. but it actually makes u aware that you have a phone in ur hand, and careful when ur handling it!!! VS with a lighter phone, u just forgot that its in ur hand, or ur armpit, or between ur neck, then accidently drop it.... -.- zzzzz

originally i bought this phone just for testing housing purposes. then i would sell it as the 9780 comes out, and get that one. but after using it for the past week, i actually am gonna keep this phone cuz i like it. so much better. =D i recommend it to anyone!

Once in a while, i come across to people that have an idea. an idea to stand out from the rest. and Hanie is one of them! i dont mind going out of my way, to design and come up with a few ideas and combinations, when you know what you want, at least the colors anyway.

she came to me with a picture, and well.... nevermind, go read her blog!

this is the closest color to the camera as i could find. now u may notice the middleplate is yellow. but this one was the first ever i have to change. the process took a little longer than usual. but still a lab rat. lol cuz the quality was untested and everything wouldnt fit nicely, had to tweak here and there. so yes, i can now change the middleplate color for 8520. but color very limited, and please dont expect the quality to be like the original.

anyway, i promised Hanie i would retire this combination, until she change housing again. haha

this post is just to show case what i can do, if u have a creative mind. =D

so, come up with ur own, 1 of a kind in the world housing. because i GUARANTEE this is THE only one in the world. lol

WARRANTY WARRANTY WARRANTY!!

IF I CHANGE MY HOUSING, WHAT ABOUT MY WARRANTY??

A: depends, some phones can preserve warranty, like the 9700 can be preserved very easily. They can only void ur warranty if the seal sticker that’s covering the screw is broken. Or that the watercolor sticker turns red. So it all depends on the sticker and how its stuck on there. Some can, some cannot.

but yes, it is safe to say that opening ur phone, ur warranty can expect it to be void.

Another thing u need to know about warranty is, sure they give u 1 year warranty, and some of them works perfectly, they change u a new phone on the spot, or takes just 2 weeks to fix. But that doesn’t apply to everyone though.

lets be real, I’ve had customers that works in Digi, Maxis, Celcom, and they even send their customers to me simply because they will tell you, sending it to Singapore (which is where the authorized manufacturer) for repair, it will take 2-3 weeks for diagnose, 1-2 month to fix, so in all, u could be WITHOUT ur phone for 3 months tops. Just so u can save the RM30 trackball fix? Or even ur new screen for RM300? In the beginning, I thought of the same, but now, I think, fuck the warranty, there is nothing I cant fix, and if its some damage I cannot fix it, im pretty sure its not covered in the warranty. I cant live w/o my bb for more than one day, let alone MONTHS!

But im not asking u to disregard ur warranty, this is just my opinion =D

I think the question is, are u willing to be without ur phone for 1-3 MONTHS just so you can save RM30 – 500?

anyways, i would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYBODY that i've met and beautified ur blackberries in any ways. thank you for choosing me. i am DEEEEPLY honored.

you know, i started this blogspot exactly 1 year ago, just as a hobby!! at the time, i wanted to make my blackberry to a whiteberry (bold 9000), and there was NOWHERE in malaysia that offer this service! i was a bit bummed out. and at the time blackberry users were minimal. i was always so happy walking pass a food court or in a restaurant, seeing other blackberry users. tempted to approach them to introduce the website. but to this day, i havent done that yet. haha but yeah, i now do this FULL-TIME. i wake up, eat, shower, sleep, everyday i have to help you guys love your blackberry more! =D

but then every month after that, u see blackberry users grew exponentially! nowadays, when i walk down a food court or a walk by a restaurant, ALL I SEE is at least one person per table will have a blackberry in average. you dont even ask for people's number anymore... "hey whats ur Pin?"

i think its a good thing. blackberries bring people closer together. for you ladies, its like having ur girlfriends in the palm of ur hand at ALL times, especially in a group chat. for the guys, u can group ur 'girls' in one group, and 'bros' in another.

thus making ALL of you anti-social. haha admit it!! i knowwww i ammmm!! -.-

yes, i do understand that blackberry is NOT just a phone to its owner, its more than that. its your baby, your dearest, ur love, ur LIVELIHOOD.

you know who u are, u wake up to ur blackberry, and its bbm to ur love ones, or to tweet about what time u just woke up, and to update ur facebook status. etc etc...

for me, my blackberry has become my life! i might as well been dead for those 2 days that i was without my bb! i find myself distant from my friends w/o blackberries..... (like wtf, get urself one laaa, everybody has one!) because i only msg ppl on my bbm for any and everything! i have met a lot of my friends from my job, and now best of friends. who would've thought?

see, blackberry has become SUCH an important accessory in ur life that you just cant live without it. you lug it around with you day in and day out, it only make sense that u dress it up to, and personalize it!! well, many MANY of you have done that already. i swear i have done probably over 1000+ phones for the past year, easily! so thank you for choosing me!!

and with that said, choosing WHO to perform the plastic surgery on ur blackberry housing is also very important! yes, im sure you can change it urself (i mean, after all, i did). but if u break it urself, who are u gonna blame? lol people choose me for a reason, i think its because im more experienced, and i really do care for ur blackberry. and if its not worth it, i will tell you straight up. and i will tell you what is good, and what is not. i will tell you exactly how it is, and wont lie to you about anything. even after u change, if you've got problem, u can always come back and i will fix it for you.

is it safe? in short answer, YES. but thats not to say nothing will go wrong 100% of the time. after all, i am dismantling ur phone to its bare bone and reassemble it back together. my experience will only minimize the chances of failure, not completely avoiding it. but, u can expect your phone will function properly 100%. i've seen it all and done it all. =) there is a reason why u pay me to install these housings for you right? lol dont worry, u get to watch it go down in front of ur eyes ;)
